Paneer Methi Malai

Ingredients required (serving — 2 people)

  • 120gm paneer (cut into small cubes)
  • 1.5 cups chopped methi (fenugreek)
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 7–8 cashews
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 slit green chillies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ cup cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

Recipe

1. Heat a pan and add 1tbsp oil.

2. Add sliced onions, ginger garlic paste, green chillies and cashews and fry for 2–3 mins till the onion turns golden on low-medium flame.

3. Now, put this in a blending jar and let it cool.

4. Once it cools down, make a paste out of and keep aside.

5. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.

6. Add cumin seeds and fry for a few secs.

7. Add the onion paste and fry on low flame till oil separates out from the paste.

8. Add chopped methi to this, mix well and fry for another 4–5 minutes on low flame.

9. Add cream and 1 cup water and mix well.

10. Add salt, sugar and paneer cubes and mix well.

11. Cover the pan and cook for 7–8 minutes on low-medium flame. Stir in between.

12. Once cooked, add garam masala powder and mix well.

13. Garnish with cream and your Paneer Methi Malai is ready to be served!

Tips

To remove the bitter taste of methi, take the chopped methi in a bowl, add some water and ½ tsp salt. Boil this in a microwave for 3 minutes. Drain the water and fry this methi on low flame for 2 mins. Then, use it in #8
