Misal Pav
Mumbai’s special spicy sprouts gravy topped with onion, farsan, lemon juice served with pav

Ingredients (serving 4 people)
- 250gm Sprouts (as per choice)
- 0.25 cup Dried Coconut
- 2 onion (roughly sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (roughly chopped)
- 4–5 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 inch ginger
- Jaggery
- Spices
- Pav
Recipe
- Take sprouts in a cooker. Add 1–1.5 cup water, 0.5 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp turmeric powder. Cook for 1 whistle. Keep it aside.
- Heat a kadhai, add dried coconut and roast till it turns red. Cool it and transfer it into mixer.
- In the same kadhai, add 1 tbsp oil and roughly sliced onions, garlic cloves and ginger. Stir fry till it turns golden.
- Add roughly chopped tomatoes and roast together till tomato turns soft.
- Cool this mixture and transfer it into mixer. Grind it together with coconut.
- Now, heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add the blended onion tomato masala. Stir fry for 4–5 mins on medium flame.
- Add 1 tbsp coriander powder, goda masala, onion garlic masala and red chili powder each. Add kashmiri red chili powder for good colour (optional).
- Roast it till masala starts leaving oil.
- Add cooked sprouts along with its water & mix well. Add water to adjust consistency.
- Add salt and jaggery as per taste. Bring it to a boil for 10 mins on medium flame & Usal is ready.
- Separate Usal and Kat (Gravy) into separate containers.

Tips
You can use garam masala in case goda masala isn’t available.
